SINGER ERIN BOHEME JUST TEXTED ME - She's a 20-something. That's what they do. Text. She texted me to say Concord Music Group Chairman Hal Gaba passed away this morning. I've had several opportunities work with Concord Records over the years we've been involved in the effort to revive The Great American Songbook on the radio. They're unlike any label I've worked with before or since. Just a couple years ago, I had the opporunity to visit with Hal in his office and I think the words texted to me by Charles Pignone, Co-President, Frank Sinatra Enterprises - sum it up; "Very sad - Hal was a class act." That makes Hal a rarity in the record business these days. We just played Michael Feinstein and Keely Smith songs on http://MartiniInTheMorning.com. They're both on Concord Records. Our friend Tony DeSare is on Telarc, another Concord Music Group label. Monica Mancini's new Concord Records release will be out soon. The list goes on. Hal has been responsible for a lot of great music.
Rest in peace Hal.
MY WIFE KAREN TEXTED ME - When NBC News reporter and excutive Tim Russert died. I was a big fan. I hope someone will text someone else when I'm gone.

My wife and I would sleep in on Sundays to 2 minutes to 8AM and quickly turn on the tv to watch our favorite show Meet The Press. Our favorite show solely because of Tim Russert, a television personality and celebrity who always made you feel like a neighbor coming over to share in a good conversation in your driveway or front lawn. We miss Tim Russert too. I loved him for making difficult subjects easy, informative and enjoyable. He is missed.
